Rex needs to deliver this year
For about the past decade the AFC has really belonged to the New England Patriots. The duo of Bill Bilicheck and Tom Brady have one division title after division title, and have represented the AFC in the Super Bowl a plethora of times. For the past few years people have thought it could be the Jets turn to be the kings of the AFC East, but every year the Jets come up just short. This year no one is even talking about it, but this is the year I think it is our greatest chance. We start with the defense of the Jets. The Patriots defense doesn't even come close to stacking up. The Jets d-line includes Pouha, Coples, and Wilkerson. The Patriots really only have Vince Wilfork. I know the Patriots added Hightower and Jones to the defense, but who knows how good they will play. The Jets have David Harris, Bart Scott, Aaron Maybin, Darrelle Revis, Laron Landry, and Antonio Cromartie. Defensively it is not even a competition.
I am not going to sit here and say the Jets have a better offense than the Patriots. In the category of offense I think the Jets have improved immensely this offseason. Adding Tebow, Hayden Smith, and Stephen Hill gives this offense some new flavor they didn't have before. Who else is a threat in the AFC? The Steelers are getting very old and the offense does not scare me very much anymore. The Ravens lost Terrell Suggs for an extended portion of the season. Flacco is not very good, Ray Rice is really their only weapon. The Texans aren't a threat, and the Broncos all depends on Peyton. You know every Jet wants to top New England, and the Jets really have their chance this upcoming season.
