Gordon played college football at Baylor, but was suspended after testing positive for marijuana. He transferred to Utah and sat out in 2011, before declaring for the supplemental draft. The Browns chose him in the 2nd round of the supplemental draft, and he has showed a lot. In his rookie season last year he caught 50 passes for 805 yards and 2 touchdowns. After being suspended for the first two games of the this season, Gordon has caught 27 balls and 2 touchdowns in five games.
I really think the jets should do whatever it takes to get Gordon in green and white. With two third rounders this season, I would offer one of them and maybe a fifth or a player. At 22 years old, Gordon is very young and has a lot of talent. The jets have a pretty weak receiving corps with or without Santonio Holmes being hurt. Stephen Hill is not a good enough #1 guy for Geno Smith.
Getting a guy like Josh Gordon would give Geno the weapon he needs to take the next step forward. At 4-3, the Jets have a shot at the playoffs. Getting Gordon with their weak schedule to end the season, could mean postseason for the New York Jets. In 2009, the jets took a flyer on another troubled Cleveland receiver (BrayloN Edwards) and it turned out great.
