Let's start on offense. In the draft this year the Jets snagged quarterback Geno Smith, who looks like the Jets quarterback of the future. While I am not sold he is ready yet, I think Geno has all the tools to be a great NFL quarterback. Who else on this offense will be weapons by 2016? At wide receiver I think you look at Jeremy Kerley and Stephen Hill as two guys who could be huge parts of your team for the next few years. While this isn't a great receiving corps, the Jets can add to it through the draft and through free agency. It looks like Holmes and Sanchez's contracts could come off the books this offseason, leaving the Jets a ton of cap space.
On defense is where I would be excited as a Jets fan. This young defense has some guys who look like stars. Youngsters Muhammad Wilkerson and Quinton Coples, already showed Jets fans their talent and should only get better with experience. In this draft the Jets used their two first round picks on defense, getting sheldon Richardson and Dee Milliner. Each of the guys was arguably the best at their position. This gives the Jets four young stars on defense, not even including guys who could develop like Josh bush and Ricky Sapp.
I think John Idzik has a plan and this Jets team will be one of the best come 2016. If you add some pieces to the offense, and bolster up the pass-rush, this team could be competing for a Super Bowl in a short time.
