Don't Get me wrong, Geno Smith has great speed, agility, arm strength, he is an athletic freak for a QB. But with the 9th pick he is a huge risk due to his arm strength and lack of clutch while he was playing at west Virginia. he threw for over 11,000 yards with 96 touchdowns and 21 interceptions. His completion percentage was 71.2 percent in his senior season, but what I'm worried about is his inaccuracy at the pro level. He has a heck of an arm but is a wild QB. He goes on these losing streaks in his career including his senior season in which he lost 5 straight games after making himself a Heismen front runner and maybe even making west Virginia A national championship quality team. He got killed to Syracuse in a bowl game and went 1-4 in his 4 bowl games. He isn't clutch, never has been, and wild QB's Generally don't fair well in the NFL, nevertheless QB's that go on losing streaks (Tony Romo and Jay Cutler). He is a risk at #9 plus what do you do with Sanchez after that.
We all thought that Sam Bradford's senior season was the worst decision a QB could make, well Barkley beat him this year. Statistically it wasn't bad more than 30 TD's, but 15 interceptions. Lost 5 times, didn't play in the last two games of the season with a shoulder injury, went from Heismen front runner in the pre-season including his team being #1 ranked overall, to possibly one of the biggest bust's ever in their senior season. He is not clutch, Losing to Stanford 4 times, Notre Dame and oregon twice, Arizona and Arizona State once each. He is exactly like a Mark Sanchez except with more college experience. The last USC quarterback to fair well in the NFL was Carson Palmer and he never did great in the NFL playoffs, and besides Palmer the only USC QB to fair well is Sanchez but now he is pretty bad. Barkley with most likely fall like Brady QUinn Did, he could even end up a 2nd rounder. The Jets should pick Geno SMith over him, But I wouldn't pick either with the 9th pick.
T'eo is one of the best linebacker prospects the draft has seen over the last few years and his name could be in the defensive Rookie of the year award at the end of next season. But after his hoax and bad 40 yard dash time today The jets, who are a new york media team, has to pass on t'eo. Forget his playing we all know he can play, but with the NY Media, every move every thing he says or does will end up in the paper, on twitter, and will be talked about 5 times more than it would in Kansas City or Cleveland or Jacksonville. I'm not saying those organizations are bad (two of them are) but they're media isn't as big and no one cares as much. In NY everything is more important, (Look at Tebow) Yes tebow had media in Denver but he was the starting QB in NY He was a backup and barely played and was considered in the media as the starting QB. T'eo wouldn't fit well in this "circus" the New York Jets have. It has nothing to do with his talent but the jets would be making a huge mistake if they drafted Manti T'eo.
