Left to right, Tebow, Revis, Sanchez
Darrelle Revis, arguably the best corner in the league, Jets Captain, and arguably the best player on the Jets came out and said of Tim Tebow "He's a born leader, he really is." Adding later on "Very few athletes have the gift he has. He tries to lead by example all the time. He tries to be positive, which is awesome, and that (has resulted) in his success on the field." Now those are some strong words, and as great as it is that Revis is, saying this is not at all great. If your Rex Ryan, or Mark Sanchez do you want to hear your best player on the team saying that the back-up QB and wild-cat QB is a great leader and basically saying that he is a better leader then Sanchez? No you don't, you want Revis to follow up and say something like with Mark and Tim this team will be leaded by example those are two great leaders.
The problem with Tebow is he takes all media and press away from Sanchez, but in my mind, its too much. No one has confidence in Sanchez, everyone is talking too good about a back-up QB and if I was Sanchez I would be pissed. No one is telling the press that Sanchez is getting better and growing as a player and as a leader and that seems like a huge problem to me. The fact that Rex hasn't came out and said "Mark is our QB and there will NOT be a QB competition" really bugs me. Look if they are competing tell us, if not establish a starter and do it now. I'm sick of the Tebow time in New York and we have't even hit training camp. This is going to be a long, long summer.
