1) He is Arguably the Best Corner in the NFL
Even after the ACL surgery and all the new teams, Darrelle Revis proved this season with the Patriots that he still is a dominant cornerback. Who wouldn't go after the best corner in the game? Especially if your the New York Jets, with a ton of cap space and cornerback being your worst position. Darrelle Revis would transform the identity of this defense, as he will make the defensive line even better with his ability to take out the opposing number one receiver.
2) Shows Woody Johnson Isn't Impacting Personel Decisions
The biggest reason the Jets traded Darrelle Revis is because of the poor relationship between Darrelle Revis and Jets owner Woody Johnson. After the trade Revis made things worse by making comments about his former boss. When Revis was a free agent this past offseason, it was made known that Woody Johnson did not want the Jets to sign him. If the Jets sign Revis this year it will show Jets fans that Woody Johnson cares more about winning than his ego.
3) Makes New England Weaker
How sweet would it be for Jets fans if the Jets signed Revis just to rub it in New England's face. Revis was a major factor for the Super Bowl champions and without him, cornerback becomes a need for New England. Back with the Jets, Revis could go one on one with Edelman twice a year.
1) Too Much Money To Spend On One Cornerback
Darrelle Revis is probably going to demand between $16 and $20 million per season on the open market. That is way too much money to spend on one cornerback. While Revis is a great player, the only position I think you spend this type of money on one player is at the quarterback spot. The Jets could take that money and sign two solid guys like Antonio Cromartie and Kareem Jackson.
2) Money Will Become An Issue At Some Point
It is always becomes an issue with Darrelle Revis. The guy held out twice when he was a member of the Jets. You know at some point during his contract he will complain, do the Jets need this drama again?
