The Jets have signed fullback Fui Vakapuna to a one year deal. He is 28 years old and was drafted in the seventh round of the 2009 NFL draft by the Bengals. While the Bengals were on Hard Knocks, HBO documented Vakapuna's attempt to make the team. At the end he was released and signed to the Cardinals practice squad, then later that year the Bengals signed him to their active roster.
Of course John Conner is going to bethe starter, Vakapuna was just signed to add some depth and try to win a spot as the backup. Things might get interesting because Mike Tannebaum said that Conner is not set in stone as the starter and they will add some competition.
