Geno Smith was amazing on Monday on the road in Atlanta. He finished the night 16/20, 199 yards, 3 touchdowns, and no turnovers. He led a game-winning drive down the field and was calm the entire night. The only thing he messed up on was he messed his blockers up, getting himself killed twice by Osi.
Running backs- B+
The Jets running backs made some big plays in this game. The Jets finished with 118 yards on the ground on 22 carries, averaging 5.4 YPC. Mike Goodson made some big plays in his Jets Debut, with 32 yards on the ground and a catch. Ivory also looked the best he has in a Jets uniform, as he showed the burst they have been looking for.
Wide Receivers- B-
without Santonio Holmes, the Jets wide receivers did ok. The receivers had ten catches between them, with Jeremy Kerley catching five and a touchdown. Stephen Hill was not targeted until he caught two balls on the game winning drive, and David Nelson had two catches in his Jets debut.
The Jets tight-ends were Geno's best friends on Monday Night. Jeff Cumberland had a coming out party as he caught 3 passes for 79 yards and a touchdown. Kellen Winslow did not play very much, but he caught a big touchdown in the second half to give the Jets some breathing room at the time. These two and the addition of Sudfeld, should be great for Geno.
Offensive Line- B+
The Jets offensive line did a good job most of the night. Geno was sacked 4 times, but only hit 3 times. Time after time they gave Geno all day to throw. The run-blocking was pretty good as well. Brian Winters struggled a little bit in his debut, as he got killed once and led to Geno getting sacked.
Defensive Line- A+
The Jets defensive line was a force on Monday night. Muhammad Wilkerson, Damon Harrison, Sheldon Richardson, and Kenrick Ellis all played fantastic. They got to Matt Ryan a few times and made it hard for the falcons to have much of a run game. The big play was the goal-line stand to end the first half, as it gave the team momentum.
For the most part, the Jets linebackers were really good. David Harris appeared to be in old form, and DeMario Davis continued to be a beast. The outside linebackers, McIntyre, Barnes, and Pace, really had no impact on the game.
In their toughest matchup of the year without Dee Milliner, the Jets cornerbacks stepped up. antonio Cromartie was physical with Julio Jones the entire night, saving a couple of touchdowns. Darrin Walls stepped huge, and should of had two interceptions. Even Kyle Wilson played well, as he committed no penalties.
The Jets safeties were overmatched. Tony Gonzalez was a beast, as no Jet safety could guard him. The safeties also let up a touchdown to their backup tight end. Dawan Landry dropped a fumble recovery, eventually leading to a Falcon touchdown. Jaquainn Jarrett had his best game of the season.
Special Teams- A
The jets special teams was amazing. In the first quarter, they blocked a punt. clyde Gates had a huge kick return and Kerley had a huge Punt return. Kicker Nick Folk was 3 for 3, hitting the game-winning field goal from 43.
