Coach Rex Ryan has already stated the starters, plus Tim Tebow, will not play in this game. I might have put the offense out there for a series or two myself, just to see if they could get in the endzone...get some rhythm going on offense, but I can understand not putting anyone out there and risking some injuries. Mark Sanchez and company hopefully have left all the good stuff on offense for the regular season.
Special teams are the one place where a lot of these guys who are trying to make the roster can make their mark. That is the one place you will certainly see the coaches paying attention to this week. Punts, kickoffs, returns, blocking in the return game are going to be heavily scrutinized by the coaches before they have to make the final cut from 75 to 53.
So, while the annaul Jets-Eagles game will be a tough watch, just remember this....for some of these guys on the field, this might be their last shot at playing professional football. These guys have given their hearts and souls through the summer, pinning all of their hopes on trying to make an NFL team. A lot of people's dreams will come crashing to an end this weekend. For the lucky few though, their play this weekend will earn them their dream come true...a spot on an NFL roster.
