Today's Jets game could not of been worse for the Jets. They lost to the 49ers 34-0 in front of their home stadium. The 49ers dominated offensively just running the balls down the Jets throats. THe Jets showed some life, but every time they drove the Jets would turn the ball over. To add insult to injury Santonio Holmes injured his leg on a non-contact play. He caught it, fell, and just threw the ball to a defender. The defense was not there, the running game was not there, and Sanchez was not three. IF sanchez does not perform well next monday night
The Jets need to step it up on offense. They have had some good field positions, but then just do nothing. They have to be strong with the ball and not turn it over. If they score on the opening drive of the third, that would be great.
Jets: Revis, Keller, hill
49'ers: WR A.j. Jenkins, DT Isaac Sopoga, RB's LaMichael James and Brandon Jacobs,
The Jets play the San Fransisco 49'ers today at 1:00 on CBS. The Jets have some injurys including rookie WR Stephen Hill OUT with a hamstring injury. Darrelle Revis our all pro cornerback as you all probably know is put for the season with a torn acl. Dustin Keller is questionable and Rex Ryan said its less likely he'll play than he thought on Thursday. For the 49'ers Isaac Sopoga, Brandon Jacobs, and Ted Ginn Jr are all questionable and Patrick Willis and Vernon Davis are both probable. Looks like the 49'ers have an advantage on the injury report. Go Jets!
1) Jets Sack Alex Smith More than Three times
The Jets have struggled with the pass rush this season. I think this is the week they will break out. Coples will see the field more, Maybin will play good, and Alex Smith will see the ground a few times. TheJets i think will bring LanDry in on some blitz's as well.
2) Alex Smith Will not Throw Multiple Touchdowns
Alex Smith is good, but he is not the cream of the crop. One guy says he thinks Smith will Throw four touchdown's! I think he will have a good game, I just think the Jets pressure and their good redzone D will stop Smith from throwing touchdown's. I think Frank Gore will have a trip to the end zone.
3) The 49ers Win in a close win
With the home field and Sanchez confident I think tHe Jets make it a good, physical game. I think the 49ers are just so well rounded and they will come out on top 24-17.
Week one we saw Curtis Martin get inducted and next weekend at home against Houston we will welcome two new members. Wide receiver Wesley Walker and Mark Gastineau are the two Jets greats who will be the 2012 Ring of Honor inductees.
Walker was a lethal weapon throughout the 1980's. He had eight seasons where he averaged over 20 yards a catch. He played his whole career with the Jets (1977-1989) and made two Pro Bowls. Over his career he caught 438 catches and had 71 touchdowns.
Mark Gastineau was a part of the "New York Sack Exchange" throughout the 80's. Like Walker he spent his whole career on the Jets and is 8th all time in sacks. He had a stretch where he made five straight Pro Bowls and once recorded four sacks in a Pro Bowl game. He recorded 107 sacks over his career.
Let's take a closer look at the Jets week 4 opponent, the 49ers.....
San Fran offense vs. Jets Defense
The 49ers offense is led by qb Alex Smith. Smith is not going to overwhelm you with his talent, but he has consistently made the right decisions and gone out of his way not to lose games for the niners. He turned it over last week for the first time in over 200 passes. He's smart with the ball and runs an effective offense. The Niners love giving the ball to running back Frank Gore, who can pound it inside or outside and feels the more he gets the ball, the better he is. On the outside, the 49ers best weideout is Michael Crabtree, who after years of inconsistency, seems to be coming into his own a bit this year. He's not a deep threat, but Crabtree can run slants and outs with the best of them. He's a good possession receiver. The niners big play guy though undoubtedly is tight end Vernon Davis. Davis is monster coming off the line, almost impossible to bump because he can run you over if you try to do so. He is a terrible mismatch for any team in the league, but especially the Jets who have all kinds of trouble covering tight ends. Davis is a big play threat every time he's on the field. The Jets would be wise to use bracket coverage on him with a linebacker and a safety and let someone else try and beat them. Davis is just too good to cover one on one. This is a tough matchup for a Jets defense that has been underwhelming so far. They've not played the run well THIS YEAR AND FACE A TEAM THAT LOVES TO RUN IT AT YOU. tHE jETS DEFENSIVE LINE NEEDS TO STEP UP AND PLAY VERY WELL THIS WEEK IN ORDER TO SLOW DOWN THE RUNNING GAME. wITHOUT dARRELLE rEVIS NOW, aNTONIO cROMARTIE AND kYLE wILSON BECOME THE TOP TWO CORNERS. While this is not a game where they're going to be challenged a ton I dont think, it's a good game to get their feet wet knowing they are the main guys out there now.
jETS OFFENSE VS. 49ERS DEFENSE
Another difficult matchup here for the Jets. tHE jETS WANT TO RUN THE FOOTBALL, BUT HAVE BEEN VERY INEFFECTIVE SO FAR DOING SO. tHEY FINALLY GOT SOME GOOD STUFF OUT OF bILAL pOWELL LAST WEEK AND PERHAPS HE HAS SHOWN ENOUGH TO START TO TAKE MORE CARRIES FROM sHONNE gREENE, WHO HAS BEEN VERY DISAPPOINTING SO FAR. The 49ers defensive line is very good, led by defensive end Justin Smith. Smith is a fearless pass rusher. He's going to give D'Brickashaw Ferguson and Austin Howard all they can handle. The 49ers linebacking core is led by the great Patrick Willis. Willis is a fantastic run stuffer and a hard hitting pass covering linebacker. Willis can do it all . he has to be accounted for when coming to the line of scrimmage. The 49ers get a good pass rush as well from Aldon Smith and Navarro Bowman from the linebacker position. The Jets offensive line and running backs had better be ready to pick these guys up on blitzes. The 49ers secondary consists of solid players like Carlos Rogers at corner and Donte Whitner at safety. This is the weakest part of the 49ers defense and the Jets need to take advantage here. Mark Sanchez is just barely over 50 percent completion so far for the season, but he has been able to hit some big plays to santonio holmes, jeremy kerley and stephen hill in the passing game. It would also be a massive help to the jets if Dustin keller could come back and play this weekend. sanchez has especially missed his presence out on the field.
tHIS WILL BE A DIFFICULT GAME FOR THE JETS TO WIN, BUT IT'S NOT IMPOSSIBLE. SAN FRAN IS VERY GOOD AT WHAT THEY DO AND LIMIT THEIR MISTAKES. THE JETS NEED TO DO THE SAME. IT'S A 1 P.M. HOME GAME AGAINST A WEST COAST TEAM, WHICH IS ALWAYS AN ADVANTAGE FOR THE HOME TEAM IN THE EAST. I THINK THIS IS A GAME WHERE SANCHEZ NEEDS TO MAKE SURE HE DOESN'T MISS THE BIG PLAYS LIKE HE DIED
Grimes was good in the preseason for Houston
