As Geno and Vick battle for the starting nod, the only real debate will come with the decision of who the third quarterback is. Boyd was the Jets sixth round pick and has a lot of potential to develop into a good backup in the NFL. Matt Simms has not looked great early on in workouts and hasn't showed you anything in his young career.
Running Backs (5)- Chris Johnson, Chris Ivory, Bilal Powell, Daryl Richardson, Chad Young
The Jets have amazing depth at the running back position after getting Chris Johnson and Daryl Richardson in the offseason. Richardson and Powell will battle for the third string job, and Ivory and CJ will split carries as the lead back. I think the un-drafted rookie full-back, Chad Young, beats out Tommy Bohanon for the job.
Wide Receivers (6)- Eric Decker, Jeremy Kerley, Stephen Hill, David Nelson, Jalen Saunders, Shaq Evans
Eric Decker and Jeremy Kerley are guaranteed locks to make the roster. I also believe Stephen Hill and David Nelson are as well. Hill has yet to breakout, but has looked great in early offseason workouts. Nelson was so reliable for the Jets last season, and should play a nice role in the offense again. Jalen Saunders is key for special teams, and the battle for the last spot will be between Evans, Enunwa, and Ford, with Evans I believe the winner.
Tight Ends (3)- Jace Amaro, Jeff Cumberland, Zach Sudfeld
Going into the last season, the tight end depth chart looked awful. This season they got Jace Amaro in the second round of the draft, bringing a Gronkowski-like dimension to this offense. Jeff Cumberland was very reliable last season, and Zach Sudfeld is huge and has a lot of potential.
Offensive Line (8)- D'Brickashaw Ferguson, Brian Winters, Nick Mangold, Willie Colon, Breno Giacomini, Oday Aboushi, Dakota Dozier, Dalton Freeman
The first five guys I listed will be the starters, but the last three spots are up for debate. Aboushi going into his second year has been getting good snaps at OTA's and minicamp. Dozier has a ton of potential and Dalton Freeman has impressed the Jets as an un-drafted free agent last year.
