Leonard Williams is still only 20 years old. The 6'5, 300 pound lineman, recorded 80 tackles and 7 sacks during his junior season at USC. He is a force both in the run game and getting to the quarterback. His game compares to former Patriots legend Richard Seymour in a lot of minds. While the defensive line was nowhere near a need for the Jets, the pick makes the Jets defense look unstoppable on paper. They now add Leonard Williams to Sheldon Richardson, Muhammad Wilkerson, and Damon Harrison up front. Also, David Harris, Quinton Coples, and Demario Davis in the middle, and Revis, Cromarite, Skrine in the secondary. I don't know many defenses with this type of talent. How will an offensive line block this line, while the quarterback has to wait for his wide receivers to get open against Revis and Cromartie? Good luck to the AFC east quarterbacks.
Now in round two I would like to see the Jets get a wide receiver or an offensive lineman. Both are needs, and there should be quality guys around at pick #37. Just because the Jets picked Leonard Williams, does not mean they should trade Muhammad Wilkerson. There is no reason to trade a 25 year old All-Pro. I give this pick an A+ for the amazing value.
