On April 16th he signed a 1 year contract with the Jets for a bargain 1.26 million. Considering his potential the Jets are taking another low risk high reward gamble on him that will likely payoff. One of the reasons why Maybin didn’t play more frequently last year is that he showed to be a weakness against the run in his days as a Bill. This had to do with his inability to separate himself from blockers due to his light weight. The Jets physical training staff currently has him on track to weigh in around 255lbs for the start of the season. This additional weight should allow him to play the run better and add a few pass rushing moves to his arsenal, thus allowing him to play more frequently. Maybin was only 21 when he was drafted and just turned 24 this April 6th. Aaron might have very well been a one trick pony last year (all of his big plays he ran around the outside) but he was the best one trick pony the Jets had.
