THe Jets are built on defense, just like Seattle. Right now the Jets have a disruptive front seven, led by youngsters Muhammad Wilkerson and Sheldon Richardson. The front has the makings to be the best in the NFL. THe Jets lack in the secondary, but have resources. The Jets have a ton of cap room and could go after a defensive back like Brent Grimes, TJ Ward, Jarius Byrd, or Verner from the Titans. Also, the Jets have Dee Milliner who ended the season as NFL defensive rookie of the month.
The Jets on offense are built with their running game. Chris Ivory has a similar style to that of Lynch, and could break any tackle. The Jets don't have a top-tier quarterback, but if they could put some solid guys around Geno Smith like Seattle did with Golden Tate and Percy Harvin, Geno can succeed. The Jets have a ton of draft picks and cap to go get some weapons on the outside.
The Seahawks win shows that the NFL is not truly just a passing league, and that a strong run-game and defense also win championships. Those are the things the Jets are built on, giving Rex hope that the Jets could follow a similar path to Seattle.
