One of the more interesting signings was Mike Shanahan. He is listed as a tight end, but played a lot of receiver at Pittsburgh. In his senior season he caught 62 passes for 983 yards and 12 touchdowns. With the Jets weak at the tight end position, I could see Shanahan fighting for a spot on this team. He has good size for a tight end.
My favorite UDFA that the jets signed this season was wide receiver Zach Rodgers. Rodgers was a very reliable receiver at Tennessee, catching 32 passes and 7 touchdowns as the third receiver in his senior season. He projects as a good slot receiver in the NFL, and could be a nice target for Geno Smith in the future.
One position the Jets did not address in the draft was safety, and they could still use some help there. Rontez's problem is his character issues, as he was forced to leave Kent State university because of them. He has the skills to be a solid free safety in the NFL, and could make the roster because of the lack of depth at the position.
