It may have dropped the Jets an extra game back in the division. And sure, they probably could have won had they not made a few critical mistakes. But when you play ANY team, mistakes kill. Drops in the end zone and failure to stop the other team on long third downs will always come back to bite a team no matter who they are playing against. This time, they just so happened to make these mistakes against the Patriots. Some teams let defeat take a toll on them. But good teams, which the Jets have proven to be this season, let losses like this roll right off their backs and move on to the next one. And elite times, well, they don't lose very often. And there is little doubt in my mind that Jets will lose many more times this season.
Todd Bowles's willingness to move on and walk into Oakland next week with a clear head will only help the Jets. Bowles has proven in through six games that his mentality, a winning mentality, is something that works. Rex Ryan used to obsess over beating Bill Belichick, and that is probably why he went up to Buffalo. But in the mind of Todd Bowles, beating Chuck Pagano and beating Belichick are equally important. And so after only their second loss of the sixteen-game season, Todd Bowles and the Jets might have taken a step-back in the win column, but they have most certainly moved forward.
The Jets now stand at a respectable 4-2, with 4 very winnable games coming up. They need to take advantage.
