bills offense vs. jets defense
Here is a scouting report on the jets week 17 opponent....the buffalo bills.
bills offense vs. jets defense
both of these teams are just playing out the string. the bills are coming off a 24-10 loss in miami last week where the team simply didn't show a lot of effort. the jets are coming off a 27-17 loss at home to the chargers, where the same could be said of their effort. Both teams simply can't wait to have their disappointing seasons end.
this will almost definitely be ryan fitzpatrick's last game as starting qb for the bills. he's had a wildly uneven season and the bills owe him almost 10 million dollars if they keep him on the roster next year. that's not going to happen. fitzpatrick is very hot or cold. when he's hot, he's red hot. when he's cold, he's a turnover machine. he simply doesn't protect the ball well enough. that sound like anyone the jets have on their team?
the bills best offensive player is c.j. spiller. in his third year out of clemson, spiller has had a big time breakout season. he's run for over 1000 yards on the year and is a big threat in the passing game as well. anytime he gets his hands on the ball, it could be a td. spiller is an explosive player who the jets simply don't have a matchup for. if spiller gets into the open on screens or anywhere in open space, look out.
The bills biggest outside weapon is stevie johnson. johnson is one of the few guys in the lague that gives darrelle revis a hard time when they matchup. johnson is physical and quick. He can run the underneath route and get open as well as getting deep on you. he's a gifted receiver. antonio cromartie will have his hands full with him on sunday.
the bills other big offensive weapon was tight end scott chandler, but he's on i.r. and out for the remainder of the season. that leaves backup tight end lee smith to handle those duties. rookie t.j. graham is the other starting wideout on a bills offense that coach chan gailey sure thought would be a lot more explosive than it has been this year.
jets offense vs. bills defense
I can't write it any more than I have all season long....the jets offense has been flat out awful this year. starting greg mcelroy last week didn't help a bit. the jets did put up 17 points, but the offense was still rough to watch. Mcelroy doesn't have a big enough arm to scare anyone. it's been drilled into his head not to turn the ball over like mark sanchez did all year, but he turned it over twice last week on an interception and a fumble. he was sacked 11 times as well. Part of that was the offensive line...part of that was him holding onto the ball too long. I'm not going to spend a lot of time on this offense mainly because....
a. They're not very good.
B. It's the last time we're going to see this offense.
Tony Sparano will be fired after the season is over and there will be a new offenive system, new offensive coaches, and pleny of new offensive players next year.
the bills defense has been as bad as the jets offense has been. defensive coordinator dave wannstedt is also going to be relieved of his duties at the end of the year, probably along with head coach chan gailey. wannstedt has been under fire all year for the poor performance of this defense. big signing mario williams has not had nearly the impact on the defense that everyone thought they would. just like the jets, the bills will be new defensive coaches and a new system next year.
bOTH OF THESE COACHES ARE ON THE HOT SEAT. GAILEY IS ALMOST CERTAINLY GONE, AND I THINK REX RYAN MAY BE IN MORE TROUBLE THAN WE THINK. I THINK REX GETS ANOTHER YEAR HERE, BUT IF THE JETS LOSE HERE AND ARE UNCOMPETITIVE LIKE THEY WERE IN THE 2ND HALF AGAINST THE CHARGERS LAST WEEK, YOU NEVER KNOW. WE WILL SEE WHAT WOODY JOHNSON HAS TO SAY
