Harris knocking down a Cleveland Brown.
The Jets have a lot of star players on their squad, including Mark Sanchez, Tim Tebow, Santonio Holmes, Nick Mangold, Darrelle Revis, Bart Scott, and Antonio Cromartie. But who is the most underrated Jet, that no one really knows or cares about. My first pick would be Dustin Keller the tight end for the Jets. But people understand that he is key and he's a fan favorite including mine. But the most underrated New York Jet is no doubt about it David Harris. Jet fans know him, Dolphin, Patriots, and Bill, fans know him. But around the league fans wouldn't put him in the list of best linebackers. In six seasons as a Jet he's had 514 tackles, 19.5 sacks, a few forced fumbles and a few interceptions.
Those don't seem like anything special stats, but as a rookie in 2007 he had 127 tackles which is amazing for a rookie, he also added 5 sacks that season. Jet fans and NFL fans loved him. But the season after he only played in 11 games and his stats just weren't where they were the year before. Then in 2009 he did exactly what he did in 2007 literally 127 tackles with .5 of a sack more. Then in 2010 and 2011 his tackles went from 99 to 86. So is he getting worse, or are other Jet defenders getting better? I think its the other Jet defenders are getting better. Harris with him the Jets are in order and he leads the Jets defense. Without him the Jets are a chicken running with there heads off. Last year he had 9 tackles vs the Patriots, 7 vs the Cowboys, 7 against the Ravens, and 7 against the Eagles. Rex Ryan loves the guy and his nickname sums it up. "The Hitman" as media and fans call him it a perfect nickname for the guy. Although his stats have dropped off he still gets huge hits that makes everyone else energetic. He is a leader of the team and without him I don't think the Jets would have a great defense, you need a leader, he's the guy.
