Already a major problem has surfaced for John as Jets general manager. The Jets superstar cornerback Darrelle Revis was upset over the reports that owner Woody Johnson will try and trade him. Revis is set to be a free-agent in 2014, and he is reportedly wants to be the highest paid defensive player of all-time. The Jets are already in cap-hell, so what should Idzik do? Should he pay the superstar or trade him and build for the future? Many fans would love the Jets to keep Revis for good, but trading may be the best move for the franchise.
Another question for Idzik is what to do at quarterback. Right now the Jets have Tebow, Sanchez, and McElroy. We all know Tebow will be gone, but what can he do with Sanchez? If he cuts him the Jets take a huge cap hit, and no teams for sure want to trade for him. Idzik helped build a few great teams, as Seattle is set at quarterback. He should follow what they did, draft a guy in the 2nd or 3rd round and sign a veteran like Matt Moore.
From his press conference you can tell Idzik is motivated to build this team. From all sources he knows what he is doing and is a great guy. The Jets have a plethora of problems, but Idzik may be the right guy to fix it.
